Abbey’s MoveU Success Story
Dive into Abbey’s success story with the MoveU Program!
Hey! I’m Abbey, I’m 25 years old, and I’m from Baltimore, MD. I enrolled in the MoveU Forever Fix Program in January 2017 because of hip pain, SI joint pain, low back pain, and pseudo sciatica that I had for 4 months.
Prior to the hip pain, I had other tedious injuries such as shoulder impingement and plantar fasciitis. I went to a physical therapist, chiropractor, orthopedic doctor, massage therapist, and had acupuncture and cupping therapy with no avail. The pain I had stopped me from participating in any physical activity, which was mostly weight lifting. It made me feel meaningless, anxious, and broken.
I was a former collegiate two-sport athlete that never suffered a serious injury during my career. I had never felt the adversity of physical pain without a clear path of recovery from doctors, trainers or therapists. It affected me mentally and emotionally almost as much as physically.
I struggled to get through a workday without constantly thinking about the pain, I was commuting an hour and couldn’t sit in my car for 3 minutes without having pain. I blamed external factors: chairs, my car, a specific moment in the gym, etc. I spent several commutes home from work crying and angry without a clear vision of how this would ever improve. I was disengaged from relationships with friends and family because I was uncomfortable in most situations, even sitting down to enjoy a meal was frustrating. Physical therapy would give me relief for about 24-48 hours, chiropractor visits seemed to make it worse and I had an MRI come back that was essentially clean.
The fear of the unknown and unanswered consumed me.
I found MoveU on Instagram. I followed them for a few months and through their short videos, the information they shared made sense and began to resonate with me. Something inside me started to truly believe in them, their purpose and their vision.
I joined a live webinar to hear more about the program. Immediately, through Dr. Mike and Andrew’s knowledgeable and caring words, I could tell this was a program that would change my life. I enrolled in the program because I was fed up with the constant pain as I continued to exhaust my options in the medical field.
I knew a change needed to be made.
I am not the type of person that just accepts my circumstances. There’s always room for improvement. I refused to “manage” or deal with the pain. I would not accept this pain and these limitations any longer.
After going through the program, I am empowered with the knowledge to understand my body and my movement. MoveU is essentially a manual to self-awareness!
My pain has improved. I have gained endless amounts of knowledge and strength. My body composition has improved, and I’ve gained aggressive patience as I continue to learn my body. Importantly, my mindset has improved on how I look at pain, speak about pain, mentally, physically and emotionally.
This program has impacted my life far more than I could have anticipated. I’m surrounded by a group of like-minded people all working to better improve themselves, body and mind. A community that cannot be matched with its support, love, and care, all working toward the same mission. A group of people who believe in this program, themselves and others!
Chronic pain manifests first in the mind and it imperative that you are aware of the way you think and move! MoveU has opened my mind and helped me gain a perspective far more important than I ever thought possible, it was the best investment I made for my physical and emotional well-being! I can get back to lifting weights, properly and mindfully. I even started CrossFit! I’m working on learning Olympic lifts at CrossFit and applying the MoveU principles to every movement and workout!
I’m giving back to the MoveU community through our Facebook groups so I can help others help themselves!
I am working on getting my CrossFit Level-1 Certificate so I can give back to my community. My goal is to pull a 305 deadlift by August 2019 and squat 225! My goals scare me, but they should! My goal is to continue to empower others in the MoveU community as they continue to work on their goals and navigate through the program. Above all, my goal is to never stop learning about my body and my body mechanics in the gym and in life!
I’m not afraid of anything; I look forward to all the activities I will get to do and try in my life without fear of pain! There are setbacks, but I look forward to these moments where I get to gain more knowledge about myself and my body!
I am forever grateful for the MoveU team and all their hard work. I’m honored to get the opportunity to collaborate with them each and every day. Don’t accept your pain, don’t accept your diagnosis, or circumstances. Take action, invest in yourself, your body, your mind, and your time. The return on investment will be worth every minute and every penny. This is your life, so take control and take action! Get up and move, get up and live!
